Q. What makes The Shade Guys NQ Different?
A. Here at The Shade Guys NQ we measure, quote, advise and install of our own products as well as provide after sales service. All our exterior, interior blinds and folding arm awnings are made to measure to suit your needs. If we don't have what you're after we'll help you find what your looking for.
We pride ourselves on good customer service. We get back to clients, punctual on quotes and installation and ring if we are running late (even if it's 10 minutes late). We love shading your outdoor areas to enhance your outdoor living experience.
Q. What is different from other shade cloths?
A. The Shade cloth used on our blinds is a Heavy Duty, Commercial and architectural grade Shade cloth. It is one of the heaviest grades of Shade cloth on the market and comes in a large range of colours. Our Shade cloth offers the best in heat reduction and comes with a 10 year warranty against our sun's harmful UV rays and fading.
Our PVC mesh fabric that is also used on our blinds is an "exterior" grade fabric that is manufactured for outdoor conditions, unlike some others that are rated for "indoor/outdoor" conditions. Our PVC mesh is available in a huge range of colours to match your decor. It gives you uninterrupted views from the inside but gives you privacy from the outside. It blocks up to 90% of the sun's rays and reduces glare.
Our awning fabrics are used with the Orchestra range of fabrics from Dickson, a worldwide leader in outdoor acrylic fabric manufacturer from France.
Q. How do you make them fit?
A. All of our blinds and awnings are made to suit your individual needs and space. They are not "off the shelf" products; they are built to your specifications upon order. A professional installer will then expertly install your blinds or awnings.
Q. What fastening options are there?
A. There are numerous fastening options that we offer for our exterior blinds so that they are not flapping in the breeze. Ranging from easy to use channel systems, stainless steel clips and fittings to small indiscreet elastic straps.
Q. Does it cost more to have a tailor made blind from you?
A. It does cost more to have a tailor blind made from us as opposed to an "off the shelf" product from a department store. But buying a tailer made blind from us means that you have a blind that fits "exactly" to your window or patio, therefore eliminating any unsightly large gaps. Our blinds use only high quality parts and mechanisms. Every part of our blind is fully and individually replaceable, should something malfunction on your blind that part can be replaced without purchasing a whole new blind system.
Buying a tailor made blind or awning from us also keeps fellow Aussies employed as all of our blinds are manufactured, sewn and built right here in Australia
Q. How long is the Warranty?
A. Most fabric warranties range from 10 to 5 years, depending on fabric. This warranty covers UV deterioration/degradation and fading.
All other components and mechanisms come with a 5 year warranty against malfunction.
Q. How big a blind/awning can I have?
A. Blinds can have a maximum width of up to 6 metres but there is a drop restriction. It's best to speak to one of our staff to discuss this as there are many different restrictions/options depending on blind system.
Folding arm awnings can have a maximum width of up to 21 metres and maximum projection of 4 metres.
Q. What is your territory?
A. We are Townsville based but do cover from Bowen to Cardwell and West to Mount Isa. We conduct quarterly visits to Mount Isa and the west every year on a regular basis.
Q. Does it cost more if I'm on the fringe of your territory?
A. There is no quote charge during our regular visits to Mt Isa and the west and generally not for Ingham residents.
For other residents outside the above, such as Ayr, Bowen Charters Towers. Its best to give us a ring and get a rough quote before one of team go out to measure and quote as there is generally a small charge to cover fuel costs for "one off" quotes in outlining regions.

Q. Can I use you if I'm just outside your territory?
A. In some cases yes, please call first to confirm.
Q. I'm on the fifteenth story; can you install a blind on the outside window?
A. Yes it's possible; an assessment will have to be made on site.
Q. What do you sell other than what's on your website?
A. We can supply any type/grade and colour of shade cloth. We can supply cut lengths, bulk rolls.
We can also source other unique and "one off" outdoor shade products like specialised umbrellas.
Q. Are the blinds repairable?
A. Yes, all of our blinds and folding arm awnings are fully repairable from fabrics, springs and gearboxes, without having to replace a complete blind or awning system.
Q. Are the blinds able to be removed if I move?
A. Yes, either DIY or give a call to arrange to see if they will fit in your new location and we can remove and re-install.
